Mokume Gane Rings are fairly rare. There are a small number of jewellers and crafts people who have mastered this art – and it is an art.
The processes that are involved are challenging, and the outcomes sometimes terrible. When a crafts person get it right the results are stunning. Warm colors that play endless organic patterns across the metals.
When buying a Mokume Gane Ring make sure you get your size right – if it needs to be made bigger or smaller it will spoil the pattern. Mokume is made using combinations of metals including titanium. How they get this right I don’t know – but the effects are great. Mokume Gane is also used inlaid into titanium rings. These are also like hens teeth! I have yet to see any Freemasons Rings made with Mokume – would be very effective.
